A Gentle Creative Process
Does creating feel elusive to you? Like trying to capture a gorgeous photo of a monarch butterfly hovering gently over the waving wildflowers. You almost get it and then, as a soft breeze whispers through your hair, it’s gone.
Or, do you feel like creating is a waste of time? You have to complete laundry, cook dinner, organize kid’s schedules, connect with your husband and that’s all just at home. If you work too, you’re already exhausted and still need to do those things.
The to-do list never ends. After all, your worth is based on production, right?
Except, it’s not.
You don’t have to produce a thing to be a worthy human being. You are amazing and unique just because of how you’ve been created.
Maybe read that sentence again as a reminder.
Stress relief can happen in a myriad of ways, but I believe painting is one of the best ones. Although I may be a little biased.
Here’s the thing. A gentle creative practice doesn’t rely on productivity. It focuses on the process. The beauty of the present moment abounds as you explore painting without striving for a result.
I believe creativity flows like the seasons, with a time for planting, growing, gathering and resting.
Each season can happen all in one session or it can happen over months. The journey is all about exploring where you are right now, sinking into the depths of the present moment and allowing yourself to thrive in every season without straining towards the next one.
