2 Watercolor Practices to Try Today to Learn About Color
You know those moments when you see the colors of a sunset begin to merge and blend or the fall leaves beginning to transform into luscious, bold colors?
Nature at its best contains color mixing, it’s fascinating and full of wonder.
A similar fascination can be found when you mix watercolor paints.
The way they flow together is relaxing to watch and the new colors you create can be surprising.
These two color exercises are ones I do weekly. Either when I don’t feel like painting a picture, have painted a bunch of stuff I don’t like, or just need a break from trying to create a finished piece.
It helps me reenter the joy of the process.
The first exercise is done using circles in the video. But, you can also do this one using any shape. Squares, triangles, and even half-circles work. It’s all about connecting the colors to see how they intermingle.
The second exercise can be done with any two colors you want. It’s all about experimentation and exploration. You never know when a new color combo will delight you.
